Overview

Ayam Penyet Pak Tjomot (Boulevard) is a standout destination for lovers of authentic Indonesian ayam penyet, located in the bustling Komplek area along Jl. Boulevard Panakkukang Mas in Makassar. The restaurant offers a rich culinary journey defined by traditional flavors and a menu that balances classic favorites with regional touches.

The main attraction here is undeniably the ayam penyet itself—crispy, tender fried chicken served with spicy sambal, rice, and fresh sides. Fans of traditional dishes will also appreciate the Bebek Tcomot, a duck dish that aims to capture the essence of local taste, though some diners have noted variable freshness. The inclusion of beloved Indonesian sides such as Sayur Asem, a tangy vegetable soup, and Karedok, a raw vegetable salad with peanut sauce, elevates the meal into a well-rounded experience.

Beverage options like Es Lemon Tea and the signature Es Tjomot are refreshing complements to the robust flavors, while Teh Manis Hangat offers a comforting warm sweetness to soothe the palate. The menu also features other beloved Indonesian staples like Rawon and Mie Kuah, providing variety for those exploring the cuisine beyond chicken dishes.

Visitors to Pak Tjomot will find the atmosphere lively yet straightforward—reflecting a busy local eatery with a focus on good food rather than upscale decor. The space, while functional, can be somewhat compact, with restrooms available but notably small in size. Despite its popularity, the location can be tricky to spot due to its integration within a cluster of buildings, which may challenge first-time visitors.

The restaurant accommodates both dine-in and delivery, showing flexibility that suits a broad audience ranging from families and local workers to tourists seeking genuine Makassar flavors. Customers appreciate the sizable portions and thoughtful packaging when ordering through delivery platforms, enhancing the value despite occasional notes on particular dishes.

Overall, Ayam Penyet Pak Tjomot (Boulevard) serves as a flavorful homage to Indonesian culinary identity. It stands as a worthy stop for those in Sulawesi Selatan looking to savor traditional dishes in an authentic, unpretentious setting, affirming its place as a beloved local favorite.

Ordered through food delivery apps. Worth the price, because the portion & packaging is good. Taste’s okay, the duck however had that distinct smell like it’s not fresh anymore. Sayur asem that comes with the package actually taste good like what it’s like back home. Nasi timbel as authentic as it is.

It's always nice to have a meal here. The taste of its traditional menu boasts Indonesian identity in cuisine. My favorite package is Ayam Geprek, Cah Kangkung and Perkedel Jagung. Too bad, I didn't order Perkedel Jagung when I was there for this review. The wait is pretty normal for a highly busy restaurant. Cash and electronic payments are available. Sink and restroom are available though the restroom is too small. The premise, though highly well-known, is difficult to find as its visibility is blended with that of other buildings. This is particularly true for first visitors.
